June 2015 Philippine Holiday has one of the most important Philippine Holiday for Filipinos- the Independence Day (Araw ng Kasarinlan or Araw ng Kalayaan) .
It is an annual national holiday in the Philippines observed on June 12, commemorating the Philippine Declaration of Independence from Spain on June 12, 1898. Since 1962, it has been the country’s National Day. (Source: Wikipedia) . This year marks the 117th year of Philippine Independence.
While Filipinos celebrate this holiday nationwide, another celebration also take place outside our country. Called the Philippine Independence Day Parade, Filipino-American communities in the US gather and dress themselves with Filipino costumes to parade the streets. US States that hold this event includes New Jersey, Washington, California and extends up to Canada.
This year, the Philippine Independence Day Parade 2015 will be held on June 7, Sunday at the popular Madison Ave, New York City. It has been the tradition to celebrate this every 1st Sunday of June. Filipino artists the will grace this one-day event and a long-day street fair will be held as well.
Here in the Philippines, this sole June 2015 Philippine Holiday falls on a Friday, which luckily can lead to a long weekend for some.
